Chicago Charity Poker Events 2019
Professional poker players and poker enthusiasts filled the Keep Memory Alive Event Center for the second annual Texas Hold ‘Em Charity Poker Tournament on Friday, Sept. 27. Hosted by casino legend Jack Binion, proceeds from the tournament benefit Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and its fight against neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, and more.
Win any Play Poker Chicago tournament in 2019 and you'll receive a special invite to our 2020 Play Poker Chicago Tournament of Champions. The more tournaments you win the bigger your starting stack will be for this end of year 2 Day Mega Tournament. You can't buy your way into this event, you'll have to earn it. Small-scale cash games are available in the city’s two Hollywood-branded poker rooms and Grand Victoria Casino. Charity poker is also very popular in the area, with events running every weekend and even during the week. The evening kicked off with a reception where guests were treated to the musical stylings of Michael Shulman, and enjoyed tastings provided by Greene St. Kitchen, wine and specialty cocktails by Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits and Casa Dragones, and a make-your-own margarita bar by Kimo Sabe.
Elite poker players and celebrities in attendance included Jack McClelland, Barry and Allyn Shulman, Jon Taffer, David Williams, and Duane “Dewey” Tomko. Partygoers, along with family and friends, had a great time as they played blackjack, and roused games of Jenga, corn hole and foosball. At the end of the evening, the winner received a $10,000 cash prize.
“More than 34,000 patients have visited our no-cost social services at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health,” said Keep Memory Alive’s Co-Founder Larry Ruvo. “These types of events are so meaningful to our programs and frankly we wouldn’t exist without your support. You have my thanks and all of our patient’s thanks for being here tonight.”
